A high-count, multi-strain probiotic for people who want a serious daily dose from named, researched organisms: 22.5 billion CFU per capsule, kept in the fridge so the count stays meaningful.

Each capsule provides 10 billion CFU of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG, 7.5 billion CFU of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) and 5 billion CFU of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BB-12. LGG and BB-12 are named strains. The boulardii line names the organism but not a separate strain code, so evidence for a differently coded S. boulardii is not evidence for this capsule.

Metagenics directs adults to take one capsule daily, or one twice daily for its higher-use direction. The 60-capsule bottle therefore lasts 60 or 30 days. Store at 2°C to 8°C; refrigerate and don't freeze. The manufacturer lists the formula as free from dairy protein, lactose, eggs, gluten, wheat, nuts and soy protein.

One capsule a day from the fridge is the usual start. The Gut Health guide explains how to read strain and dose differences.

Who it's for

For people who want a strong, multi-strain daily probiotic from organisms with named strain codes, and don't mind keeping it refrigerated.

A fit if you want a higher count than a shelf-stable capsule. Take the fridge seriously: CFU counts viable organisms.

Mechanism

Probiotics are live microorganisms studied at defined strain identities and viable amounts. Findings are strain-, dose- and outcome-specific, and they don't automatically transfer from one organism to this three-organism blend. Permanent colonisation should not be assumed. A strain name and CFU count describe the formula; they don't guarantee a result.
