Mitochondria-targeted CoQ10, developed at the University of Otago.

Standard CoQ10 struggles to reach the mitochondria where it's needed. MitoQ bonds the CoQ10 antioxidant to a lipophilic cation that concentrates it inside mitochondria at levels hundreds of times higher — supporting cellular energy production where it actually happens.

Mechanism

MitoQ attaches ubiquinol (the active form of CoQ10) to a triphenylphosphonium
cation, which the mitochondrial membrane potential drives inward — concentrating
the antioxidant several hundred-fold inside the mitochondria, where reactive
oxygen species are generated and where standard CoQ10 largely fails to reach.
