MitoQ is a form of CoQ10 given a positive charge so it concentrates inside mitochondria, drawn in by the membrane potential there. That targeting makes it chemically distinct from a standard CoQ10 capsule, so the milligram amounts are not directly comparable between the two. Each capsule holds 5 mg, so a full serving is two capsules from the 30-serving bottle.

Mechanism

MitoQ attaches a ubiquinone-derived antioxidant component to a triphenylphosphonium cation. Researchers use the mitochondrial membrane potential to study accumulation of this compound within mitochondria. The targeting mechanism does not by itself establish a whole-person outcome. A small six-week crossover trial in 20 older adults with impaired endothelial function used 20 mg daily, twice this product's labelled amount, and reported an improvement in one vascular measure; that does not establish a general energy or longevity effect.

Each capsule provides 5 mg of mitoquinol mesylate. The labelled two-capsule serving supplies 10 mg, and the 60-capsule bottle provides 30 servings.

Is 10 mg of MitoQ equivalent to 10 mg of ordinary CoQ10?

No. MitoQ is a distinct molecule with a triphenylphosphonium targeting group, so its milligram amount should not be compared directly with ubiquinone or ubiquinol doses.

Did the cited human study use the label serving?

No. The six-week crossover trial enrolled 20 adults aged 60 to 79 with impaired endothelial function and used 20 mg daily, double the label serving. It measured vascular endpoints, not general energy or longevity.
